TORONTO, ON (March 3, 2022) – The new, comedic instructional baking series Raufikat's Better Bake Along (6x30) from Proper Television, a Boat Rocker Company, will premiere Friday, March 25 on the free CBC Gem streaming service. This playful hybrid stars the beloved champion baker, Raufikat Oyawoye-Salami, as she guides comedians Alan Shane Lewis and Ann Pornel step-by-step through her sweet and delicious recipes. All the while the comedians try to outdo one another in making their best replication, with a special advantage up for grabs along the way. When the flour settles, only one jeering jokester will have the Better Bake.

“It’s a unique hybrid format fueled by Raufikat’s calm, cool expertise and Ann and Alan’s enthusiastic ineptitude,” said Cathie James, co-president of Proper Television and executive producer of Raufikat’s Better Bake Along. “You can’t watch it without laughing and learning something.”

Raufikat is an immensely talented home baker who first captured Canada’s hearts as the winner of The Great Canadian Baking Show’s fourth season. She now wants to share her passion to show that anybody can conquer the art of baking, even these clueless comedians. Alongside her baking prowess, Raufikat’s own signature wit keeps the comics on their toes. Alan and Ann may not know their torte from their tarte, but their sibling-like rivalry to earn bragging rights keeps their personal stakes high.

All six episodes will launch on March 25 on CBC Gem. Each episode sees Raufikat guiding the beginner bakers through the steps of a classic recipe such as macarons, birthday cake and even cream-filled donuts.

Raufikat’s Better Bake Along is produced by Proper Television (a Boat Rocker Company) for CBC Gem. The executive producers are Cathie James and Lesia Capone. Jessica Capobianco is series producer. For Boat Rocker, Jon Rutherford is President, Boat Rocker Studios Kids & Family and Rights, and Jay Peterson is President of Boat Rocker Studios, Unscripted. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Entertainment, Factual & Sports; Jennifer Dettman is Executive Director, Unscripted Content; Susan Taylor and Nic Meloney are Executives in Charge of Production.
